WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Wichita Police Department says the 1-year-old girl who was missing since Wednesday has been found safe.

According to the WPD, the baby’s mother died in December, and the grandmother filed for custody. The court granted the grandmother custody while the child was in someone else’s care.

The grandmother contacted the police to get the custodial order enforced. Officers tried to locate the caregivers to inform them of the grandmother’s court-ordered custody.

Police finally reached them, and the baby was handed to her grandmother. The WPD says the baby was never in danger, and no crimes were committed.
