WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - 38-year-old Quentin Byrd has been charged following a May 2024 sexual assault.

According to WFPD, the investigation started after being called to an apartment on the 1300 block of Central East Treeway for a check welfare. WFPD said when officers arrived on the scene, the victim stated Bryd had sexually assaulted her even after numerous verbal pleas to stop.

During the victim’s statement, she stated Byrd had assaulted her because he believed she owed him money.

Officers spoke to a neighbor who stated they overheard the victim yelling for help. The neighbor was able to describe and identify Byrd after seeing him flee from the apartment complex.

In November 2024, Byrd, who was already in Wichita County Jail for an unrelated charge, was interviewed by investigators. Byrd told officers he had gone to the victim’s home before to hang out with her boyfriend and had only been alone with the victim a couple of times.

Byrd would later also tell officers he and the victim were never alone in a room with each other.

During the interview with officers, Byrd denied having any sexual relations with the victim.

When testing came back with Byrd’s DNA, he was later charged with sexual assault. Byrd is still being held in the Wichita County Jail as of the publication of this article.
