WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) - The Salvation Army of Wichita Falls, in collaboration with TXU Energy, is preparing to help the community ‘beat the heat’ as they plan to distribute 125 box fans on Friday, May 16.

The distribution begins at 10 a.m. at the Salvation Army of Wichita Falls Thrift Store, located at 700 Lee Street.

The Salvation Army of Wichita Falls said the box fans were purchased after a $4,000 donation from TXU Energy’s signature Beat the Heat program.

In addition to the donation for the fans, TXU Energy will also present The Salvation Army with a check for $100,000 to help provide energy aid bill-payment assistance to Wichita Falls-area families.

The box fans will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
