WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A Wichita childcare provider made her first appearance in a Sedgwick County courtroom on Tuesday. Ija Hall, 29 of Wichita, is charged with two counts of child abuse in connection to injuries her foster child received in early September. Hall is the owner of His Loving Hands Home Childcare, a home daycare located at 357 N. Erie. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) suspended Hall’s license following an investigation in which one of her foster children was taken to the burn center at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center with superficial second-degree burns to the buttocks, posterior thighs, genitalia, inner things and tops of the feet, and deep second-degree burns to lower extremities. KDHE said Hall gave inconsistent information to police about how the child was injured. After being interviewed by investigators, Hall admitted to smacking the child which resulted in bruising and making him sit in a hot bathtub, resulting in the burns, according to the suspension order. Hall’s biological child, along with the victim and another foster child were taken into protective custody. Hall is free on a $25,000 bond. Her next court date is Oct. 7. A protective order was issued, and she is not to have contact with the victim in the case or any child under the age of 12.
