WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Wichita State Shockers used 17-point halftime lead to fend off a second-half comeback and defeat East Tennessee State 96-87 on Saturday at Charles Koch Arena. The Shockers improve to 8-1 for the first time since 2019 with the win. Wichita State is 5-0 at home. Corey Washington scored 15 of his 17 points in the first half to power the Shockers to a 54-37 lead at the break. Washington chipped in 13 rebounds on the night. Xavier Bell chipped in 11 of his 13 points in the first half off the bench. The second half belong to Justin Hill, who led Wichita State with 15 of his team-high 20 points coming after halftime. Former Shocker Jaden Seymour led ETSU with 25 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks. Wichita State shined offensively, shooting 55% from the field and 43% rom 3-point range while knocking down 17 of 21 free throws. Harlond Beverly finished 14 points. The Shockers will hit the road for just the second time this season when they travel to 7-1 DePaul next Satuday for a noon tip on FS1.
