WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Wichita State big man Quincy Ballard will explore the possibility of finishing his career in a jersey other than the Shockers. Ballard entered the transfer portal on Tuesday, his agents told ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. The portal officially opened on Monday. The 6-foot-11 center from Syracuse, New York, was with the Shockers for three seasons. It was discovered toward the end of this season that he was rewarded a redshirt for a 2022-23 season that was limited due to injuries. He was granted an extra year of eligibility for 2025-26. He averaged 10 points per game this season, a career-high, to go with 9.2 rebounds. He made 75.1% of his shots and blocked nearly 2 shots per game while totaling 10 double-doubles. Ballard’s 154 career blocks rank second all-time at Wichita State. His 75.1% field-goal percentage topped his 71.9% mark from last year as the best in program history. Though Ballard could still opt to return to Wichita State, the former Florida State Seminole will likely be coveted by high-major programs. Ballard was set to be a key returner next to senior forward Corey Washington, with a majority of the contributors graduating.
