UPDATE (3:30 p.m): In a matter of hours the amount of reported power outages in the region has increased from 1,300 to more than 13,000.

SOUTHERN OREGON– As high speed wind gusts swarm the Rogue Valley more than 1,300 people are without power in Southern Oregon.

The widespread outages include nearly 200 in the Provolt area, nearly 700 in the Jacksonville area, nearly 60 in the Medford area, 114 in Ashland and 251 in Klamath County.

Most of the outages have a cause that is under investigation, with a Jacksonville area outage reportedly due to “damaged equipment.”
