COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Widespread rain from earlier this morning will continue to taper off to a few showers and storms remaining possible this afternoon into the early evening hours. Memorial Day will be cloudy and cool with an occasional shower possible for a few of us. Keep the umbrella handy for the rest of today. While the rain chance goes down for the afternoon, it will not go away. Isolated showers and a few storms will be possible this afternoon, especially for our southernmost counties. In addition, we’ll be monitoring the potential for a few strong to severe thunderstorms, mainly this afternoon, with gusty winds and some small hail possible. The severe risk is low but not zero. We will be locked into cloudy and slightly cooler conditions for the next couple days, including Memorial Day. This will keep temperatures down quite a bit with highs only in the mid to upper 70s to near 80 degrees for some. While rain chances will go down a bit, Monday will also feature a chance of showers for Memorial Day. A slow-moving boundary to our south will keep a chance of rain in the forecast for most of the week. Another front may try to swing in by late in the week, which could help taper off rain chances for next weekend. Today: Scattered showers and storms, mainly in the morning and early afternoon. Temperatures peak in the upper 70s. Tonight: Slight shower chance. Lows in the low to mid 60s. Memorial Day: Highs temperatures in the upper 70s with passing showers at times. Tuesday: Showers and possible thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 70s. Wednesday: 50% chance of rain with highs warming up to the lower 80s. Thursday: Chance of a few showers. Highs in the middle 80s. . .
