HAMILTON — The comeback Cats stayed alive.

Reggie Sapa and Noah Upton doubled and Columbia Falls overcame an early four-run deficit to beat Frenchtown 7-5 in a loser out game at the All-Class State Baseball Tournament Friday.

Upton’s three-run double in the fifth broke a 4-4 tie and powered the Wildcats past the top seed from the South.

In the other games, Billings Skyview eliminated Missoula Big Sky 7-4 in the second loser-out game.

Billings Central walked off crosstown rival Billings West in the eighth inning for a 4-2 victory to advance to Saturday’s championship game.

The Rams will face Belgrade, who downed hosts Hamilton 12-2 in the second semifinal, for the title Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Columbia Falls takes on Hamilton at 11:30 a.m. for a chance to make Saturday’s third-place game.

Kaden Blowers gave the Broncs (17-6) a 3-0 first inning lead with a single to center that brought home Brady Sypolt and next inning, Brooks Day’s single extended the lead to 4-0.

Then Columbia Falls found its hot hitting for the first time all tournament. Sapa doubled to right and brought in Nico Young to get the Wildcats (18-2) on the board. A dropped strike three allowed Sapa to score later in the inning to make to 4-2.

A pair of RBI singles from Cooper Ross and Young tied the game up in the fourth, then in the fifth Upton broke the game open.

Young and Ross combined on the mound to allow just five Frenchtown hits. Young started and went five innings, striking out two. Ross allowed one run in his two innings of work, fanning one.

Brooks Day started and went 4 2-3 innings for the Broncs and struck out eight. Dawson Rodoni threw two innings in relief allowing two hits and sitting down five batters.

Oliver Prill called game in the bottom of the eighth inning as his two-run homer powered Billings Central over Billings West in a semifinal.

Chase Wise’s big fly in the fifth gave the Golden Bears (18-2) a 2-0 lead, but that’s all the offense they could muster.

Paxton Prill singled in the fifth and an error in the sixth tied the game at two.

After an inning opening single, Oliver Prill stepped in and crushed one to left to give the Rams (15-4) the win.

Paxton Prill threw five innings and struck out eight. Zach McDonald threw the final three innings in relief, fanning four.

Brayton Van Dyken doubled and Belgrade (18-2) scored 12 runs on just seven hits to advance to the championship over Hamilton.

A pair of third inning singles put Hamilton (16-3) on the board first 2-0, but then Belgrade took over.

Van Dyken drove in three on his third inning double to cap off a four-run frame for the Panthers.

Keegan Cook ended the game in the fifth with an RBI single that triggered the run rule.

Paxton Fitch homered and Roman Sloan threw a complete game as Billings Skyview (16-4) advanced in a loser out game.
