You may wonder what Bespoke means. I had to use Google: “Made for a particular customer or user.” That made perfect sense when realizing how special Wiley’s Bespoke Jewelry is to McAlester.

James Wiley, 39, joined his grandfather’s, father’s, and uncle’s business of making custom, tailor-made jewelry when he was 19 years old.

By the 1960s, his grandfather, Jim Wiley, of Tulsa, created handmade, Catholic jewelry, then later started experimenting with diamond and jewelry wholesale. Later, his children, Matthew and Danny Wiley, of Tulsa, took up the trade as well.

Wiley opened his store on Feb. 14, 2023, at 1117 E. Wade Watts Ave.

“We specialize in one-of-a-kind, handmade custom jewelry, jewelry repair, and limited repair in watches,” Wiley said. If the watch needs repair that cannot be done in-house, they mail the watch to their preferred watch maker.

Wiley’s business serves customers from Broken Arrow, Tulsa, Jenks, Oklahoma City, and Dallas, Texas.

“Creating jewelry is incredibly satisfying, offering endless possibilities with designs, colored gemstones, and diamonds. Each piece becomes a unique expression of personality and joy,” Wiley said. “There’s nothing quite like the thrill of seeing someone try on their new jewelry for the first time, their excitement lighting up the moment.”

Wiley’s store uses lab-grown diamond jewelry that’s more affordable. They sell a large selection of bracelets, rings, earrings, or necklaces for gifts. Resizing and reshaping rings is available as well.

He said the most unique set in the store right now is handmade jewelry of a maiden motif that he acquired from an estate sale online. The jewelry is signed by Theresa Waseta.

Inside the store, artwork hangs painted by a local, well-known artist, Skip Rowell. “We also have his scrimshaw and knives and carvings — it’s nice to have someone renowned and award-winning,” Wiley said.
