Some of the potential No. 1 overall picks in the 2025 NFL draft have announced they will not hit the field at this weekend's NFL Scouting Combine. What about Cam Ward ? The quarterback who became a Heisman Trophy finalist with the Miami Hurricanes is among the favorites to be taken by the Tennessee Titans with the first pick in April's draft. He set Miami records with 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns, leading the nation in TDs. The other top QB prospect in the draft, Colorado's Shedeur Sanders , said he will not participate in drills at the combine Saturday. Neither will Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter and Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, another Heisman finalist. Dual-threat Heisman winner Travis Hunter, listed as a defensive back on the combine's player list, is still in line to take part. It's common for prospective top picks to skip the on-field portion of the NFL combine, and Ward can afford to let his game time do the talking. His stock has skyrocketed over the years from Division II Incarnate Word to Washington State and this past season at Miami, where he led the No. 1 offense in the nation and came just short of making the College Football Playoff .
