It’s starting to sound like Travis Kelce will return in 2025. Chiefs’ general manager Brett Veach spoke to the media at the NFL combine on Tuesday, and he didn’t sound like someone who was expecting to lose the 10-time Pro Bowl tight end. “I’m not sure how [head coach Andy Reid] answered that. How we left it at the end of the season is that [Kelce] was fired up, he has one more year under contract,” Veach said. “Still think he has that fire and desire to play, and as far as I’m concerned there is no deadline. I think we left it as he’d be back and we’re excited to get him back and get him going.” Kelce signed a 2 year, $34.25 million contract with the Chiefs in 2024. Kelce, 35, said after Kansas City lost the Super Bowl that he was going to take some time to figure out his future. A deadline date of March 14 was also reported, but based on Veach’s comments that doesn’t sound like a hard deadline. He has little to prove when it comes to his career. He’s won three Super Bowls. made the Pro Bowl 10 times and holds numerous NFL tight end records including most yards in a season and consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons. For tight ends, he ranks third in catches and yards and fifth in touchdowns. There’s also plenty of reasons he may want to move on to life after football. He’s become one of the most marketable stars in the NFL and also has several interests off the field including his podcast, film appearances, hosting a game show, a beer brand and a highly publicized relationship with music superstar Taylor Swift. Kelce had 97 catches for 823 yards and 3 touchdowns this season. It was the second-straight season that he has failed to each 1,000 yards after doing so every season between 2016 and 2022.
