MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A Memphis senior living apartment complex caught fire Thursday afternoon, according to the Memphis Fire Department (MFD).

MFD said the fire happened at 3494 Maclin Lane, the address of the Wesley Highland Meadows senior living apartments in Raleigh. The housing appears to be made up of several, individual units. It was not immediately made clear how the fire started.

FOX13 confirmed that an 80-year-old woman was found critically injured. That woman was trapped by the fire before being rescued by a neighbor. She then went into cardiac arrest; MFD later confirmed that she died.

MFD urged drivers to avoid the area while crews battle the blaze.
