COLUMBIA, S.C. ( WIS /Gray News) - A woman in South Carolina was shot and killed during a suspected home invasion, according to authorities. The Columbia Police Department said Monday that the body of 22-year-old Logan Federico, of Waxhaw, North Carolina, was found early Saturday at a home on Cypress Street. Officials said she was in Columbia visiting friends at the time of her death The 22-year-old died from a gunshot wound to her chest. An autopsy ruled her death a homicide. The suspected shooter was identified as 30-year-old Alexander Dickey. Dickey allegedly broke into a home Federico was staying in and shot her before fleeing the scene. “Logan was a helpless victim, she was not an intendent target,” said Holbrook. Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said Dickey went on a multi-day crime spree, using the money he stole from homes he broke into. Dickey was arrested after breaking into a home in Gaston after allegedly setting it on fire. He was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center following his arrest and was denied bond. He’s facing a count of murder as well as other charges linked to crimes in other areas of the Midlands. It’s not immediately clear when he will appear in court in Richland County to face his murder charge linked to Federico’s death.
