ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A judge will sentence a woman who pleaded guilty to setting her ex-husband’s house on fire while he was away from home. In March of last year , video showed Angela Johns showing up at Dean Sander’s home, demanding she get her car back. Then, she showed up again with gasoline and started the garage on fire. Sander watched it live on a plane, before taking off for a three-hour flight back to Albuquerque. His last call before losing cell service was to his neighbor because her home is connected to his. Firefighters knocked down the flames by the time Sander got home. No one was hurt in the fire but it destroyed two cars in the garage including Johns’. Sander says he and Johns hadn’t spoken for about a year. He had a restraining order against her, and it expired in January. Johns faced felony charges of second-degree arson, aggravated burglary and fourth-degree criminal damage to property. She pleaded guilty in October to the arson and property damage charges. Her sentencing is scheduled for Monday at 2 p.m. She faces nine years behind bars.
