The Southern Boone School District announced Friday that construction will begin next week on the new vocational and agriculture wing at the high school. Construction on the new addition is scheduled to continue through summer and fall 2026. Preparations are already underway. "We're getting ready. We're moving all the gutters for them to get ready to add on to the building, and start here when school ends," Justin Ryan said. Emery Sapp and Sons began preparing the school for construction on Friday. The vocational and agriculture wing will have two classrooms, lab space and a shop designed to enhance hands-on learning opportunities for students pursuing agriculture and vocational fields, according to the school district. Due to the construction, the north fire lane along the high school will be closed. A new concrete drive lane has been installed off Crump Lane to assist with traffic flow. The district asks all drivers to use caution when traveling near the construction zone.
