This is what we call a "leap" of faith!

At 102 years old, World War II veteran Vivian Millie Bailey had the thrill of a lifetime when she jumped out of a plane last Sunday. That’s right! Bailey went skydiving, an adventure that most of us would not dream of doing!

Bailey will be featured on the American Heroes Channel’s Honor Flight Heroes (to air on Veterans Day at 7 p.m. EST). While shooting for the special, she was asked by the producers if she had any items on her bucket list that are yet unfulfilled.

“You are not going to believe it,” said Bailey. “The thing I’d like to do is do a parachute jump like President Bush did.”

Bailey had a decade-old wish of skydiving, especially after President George H.W. Bush celebrated his 90th birthday by jumping from a helicopter.

“I was inspired by the fact that he did it,” Bailey said. “The fact that a person at that age could do the jump.”

For the veteran, skydiving had remained a dream, however, due to its $300 cost. But the Honor Flight Heroes production company decided to fulfill her longtime wish and now plans to include the video of her adventure in the program.

“You couldn’t ask for a more thrill-packed ending to the episode,” executive producer Eric J. Roberts said. “Millie would be the first 102-year-old person on Mars if it could be arranged.”

Bailey was thrilled after she landed safely. “I was scared for one minute, it felt like I was tumbling and then I thought, somebody is holding onto me,” she said.

Bailey served in the U.S. Women’s Army Auxiliary from 1942 to 1946.

Nowadays she lives in an assisted living facility and has done almost 50 years of service in Howard County, Maryland.

“I try every day to do something for someone else,” she says.

For years, Bailey has been sending care packages to troops deployed overseas. She also supports local food markets and schools.

Bailey has been honored by President Donald Trump and the late Rep. Elijah Cummings. She also has a police award, the Vivian Millie Bailey Making a Difference Award, and a park named after her. She has received multiple military awards, including the Women’s Army Corps Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and American Theater Medal.

But it looks like she has yet to tick off one more wish from her list! After meeting then-President Barack Obama in 2015, Bailey still hopes to meet the former First Lady, Michelle Obama.
