If you're like me, you grew up watching and adoring Bob Ross, PBS's beloved oil painter, on "The Joy of Painting."

Now, thanks to Canvas and Cocktails, you can be Bob Ross. [caption id="attachment_23308" align="aligncenter" width="300"]bob ross Image courtesy of Bob Ross Inc.[/caption] That's right: on specified "Dress Like Bob Ross" nights, amateur artists arrive in blue button-down shirts and are given a smock and an iconic permed wig before delving into the world of "happy little clouds" and "happy little trees." [gallery size="medium" columns="2" ids="23311,23310"] But the soft-spoken, encouraging demeanor and the ability to turn all mistakes into happy accidents? That's left entirely up to you. Each session features instructions on how to paint a Bob Ross-inspired masterpiece. [caption id="attachment_23309" align="aligncenter" width="300"]bob ross Image courtesy of Canvas and Cocktails' Facebook page[/caption] Canvas and Cocktails first began offering the Bob Ross nights over the summer, and they've been popular enough that the studio has ordered 2,000 more wigs to be doled out at future classes. The sessions are generally offered on a monthly basis. Check your closest Canvas and Cocktails location for more information and to register!
True fans of the painter will love this remix, from Symphony of Science's John D. Boswell and PBS Digital Studios. And if you've seen it already, it's definitely worth watching again! https://youtu.be/YLO7tCdBVrA What do you think? Will you attending one of these theme nights? Have you already been a part of one? I know I'm planning on signing up! Tell us what you think in the comments below!

J. Moore
A synesthete who sees the world in vivid color, Joy is all about soaking up life experiences -- and then translating those experiences into words. Freckle-faced and coffee-fueled, Joy is on a personal quest to visit all 50 states in her lifetime (40 down!), see all the Broadway musicals, and eat all the tacos. For fun, she plays the piano, diagrams sentences, and solves true crime stories from her couch, along with her husband of 20 years and their teenage daughter.
