I’m so happy we’re done with the rain, but I'd really appreciate some cooler weather. Who’s with me?

This weekend, there is plenty to do around Washington, D.C., and I want to get you right to the good stuff.

Here is your Friday, September 21, through Sunday, September 23, weekend roundup!

The Maryland Renaissance Festival | Annapolis, MD | Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Since this is still happening, I’ll keep writing about it, especially since I know not all of you who’ve been reading have gone yet. So, what are you waiting for? Just go; I promise you’ll have a blast. Really get into it and rent a costume, buy a sword, and start talking in a medieval accent. Learn more information about the Maryland Renaissance Festival here

Chesapeake Oyster and Wine Festival | National Harbor | Saturday, Sunday

Oysters and wine go together so well, don’t you think? I think so, and I wouldn’t pass up the chance to go taste them together. This weekend, The Chesapeake Oyster and Wine Festival will give you such a chance. Enjoy the waterfront on the National Harbor while you slurp and sip, as well as live entertainment and plenty of people-watching. If oysters are not enough to keep you full, other food will be available for purchase, and there will also be a Bloody Mary bar, so make sure you look out for that. For ticket and event information, visit the site here.

Museum Day | Various museums | Saturday

While there are many free museum options in Washington, D.C., (we’re very lucky that way), there are still a select view that charge an admission cost. And though I would say the Newseum is definitely worth paying for, if you haven’t gone because of the cost, now is your chance to go for free. Several paid museums will be hosting a free museum day, where admission will be waived. You can learn more information on which ones are participating here.

On Saturday, you’ll be able to get into national parks (like Shenandoah) absolutely free. Maybe make a road trip out of it? You can figure out which parks are participating here

7th Annual Wiener 500 | The Yards Park | Saturday

If you’re a dog lover of any kind, you cannot miss this event (and if you’re not a dog lover…well…I don’t really know how to help you). The 7th Annual Wiener 500 will take place this Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m., and will feature more than 120 adorable dogs racing. And there will be a prize for the winner! There will, of course, be drinks, snacks, and live music. Read more about this event here.

Celebrate Logan | Logan Circle neighborhood | Saturday

Love the Logan Circle neighborhood? Well, now you can have an evening to celebrate its many great restaurants, while also supporting a good cause. You’ll be able to taste samples from 10 different restaurants, and your ticket will go to support fighting homelessness in Washington, D.C. Sounds like a pretty good evening. Cartoons, Cereal, Drinks | Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse | Sunday

When you were a kid, did you love to get up on the weekends, pour yourself a delicious bowl of cereal, and watch cartoons? Well, you can now recreate those beautiful moments, but with alcohol included because you’re an adult now. Come out to the Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse to have brunch, which can be cereal or actual food, and enjoy your favorite cartoons on a big screen. There will, of course, be those aforementioned drinks, with plenty of brunch concoctions to choose from. Get more information here

2018 DC State Fair | SW Waterfront | Sunday

Yes, despite Washington, D.C., not actually being a state, it does have a state fair. The 2018 D.C. State Fair is scheduled for this Sunday and will have everything you could dream of for a fair. Expect music, food, drinks, live entertainment, demonstrations, and even a pet parade you can enroll your dog to participate in. Plus, it’s free to attend. Get all the details of the day here
