Hope for Life Rescue, Inc., is an amazing nonprofit shelter located at 610 Jack Rabbit Rd, Ste 3., in Virginia Beach. When you get there, you'll find them in the third building to the left – by the big yellow truck! See their available animals on their Facebook page!

I cannot tell you enough just how sweet Dobby is! When I entered the shelter, he came right up to me asking to be picked up. He is underweight, so his future owner will need to help him with that, but otherwise, he's a very happy boy and said hello to everyone who came through the door! He was glued to my hip and just followed me everywhere. Check him out here!

Ms. Anna – my goodness, this girl! She is not fixed and is currently "in heat," so she has all the attitude and more (in a good way)! Anna is very playful, and though she may be a little hesitant to come up to you at first, she'll simply melt once she gets to know you. I was able to pick her up, but she was not really a fan, so just be aware! See her here!

Don't be fooled by her age – this gal has an unending amount of energy and will keep you on your toes. Oh, and she's also loving, too! If you already have a pupper, she would be fine to go to a home with another dog! Just look at her – she loves to place her head in your lap! Meet her here!

If you want a dog, but can only afford a cat, check out Pumpkin. This playful girl loves a good laser pointer and wand toy and will need you to set aside some time to play time with her each day. If she is introduced slowly, she would do fine with other animals in the home! Find her here!

Don't be put off by her age – Oreo has the energy of a younger dog! Except for the fact that she does not do well with smaller children or other dogs, she is a dream pup. Just look at that coat pattern – she matches an Oreo cookie perfectly! She was turned into the shelter because she showed aggression towards children, but as you can see, she is a happy girl who is potty-trained and respectful of her home. Learn more here!

Hoppy, 7 Months

This lucky guy recently went out on a snout-and-about to the park, where he had a blast. Hoppy could not have been sweeter – He walked great on a leash, was friendly with everybody he met, and was very easy-going! He was a little scared of the car ride but was otherwise great! Since he is young, he will require some obedience training to work on his manners and potty-training. Find him here!

Don't worry, Beano doesn't stand for the fact that he's gassy (which he's not); it's just an adorable name for him! He's looking at the camera and saying, "Please come rescue me; I really could use a fur-ever home!" Beano does great with other dogs and is potty-trained, so he's good to go. Find him here!

There will never be a dull moment with this gal – she is quite the chatterbox! Since Effie is quite social, she would do best in a home with another kitty for her to play with. Just a head's up, she is hypothyroid so she requires an inexpensive medication. Meet her here!
Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter | Newport News
The Peninsula SPCA is more than just an adoption shelter; they're a petting zoo, too. Popular to the locals, you can find them at 5843 Jefferson Ave., in Newport News -- check them out on Facebook, Instagram, and their website! The shelter performs a behavioral test on each animal while they are at the shelter so they can provide a thorough description.

Where do I begin? Just look at how happy this puppa is – she will be the light of your life and your best friend forever! Rubie Boo is a dream dog who loves her toys and playtime and is great with kids and other dogs.
