Zara Tindall arrived at Cheltenham Festival today looking effortlessly elegant in a chic navy ensemble that was as functional as it was fashionable.

Zara, 42, joined racegoers from across the country as descended on the course in Gloucestershire for the season's first major racing event.

The royal equestrian and former Olympian made a stylish statement in Fairfax & Favour's Victoria double-breasted wool coat with big gold buttons. Zara was named the luxury brand's official ambassador earlier this month.

She matched her outerwear to a navy ruffled shirt and a pair of wide-leg trousers, while sticking to a monochromatic palette and pairing them with Fairfax & Favor's Chiswick Heeled Quilted Ankle Boots and leather gloves.

Zara was previously seen carrying the luxury handbag at a charity event in London last month.

She also added a pair of tortoise shell sunglasses and elegant gold earrings to tie her look for the first day of Cheltenham together, as the King's niece appeared fresh-faced and excited for the day's event.

She kept her makeup to a minimum, allowing her flawless complexion to shine through a sheer layer of foundation while opting for a soft, smokey eye look and a swipe of nude lipstick.

Ahead of the Cheltenham Festival, which got underway on Tuesday, March 11, Zara offered her best fashion advice for revellers attending the first big racing event of the year .

Speaking to Hello! magazine, the mother-of-three said the key is balancing 'elegance and practicality'.

'Choose a classic, tailored outfit, but make sure to incorporate layers and weather-appropriate accessories,' Zara explained. 'For me, it's about what works and feels good to wear.'

Elsewhere in the interview, she also credited the Princess Royal as one of her biggest fashion influences, whose British country-core aesthetic is a lesson in combining 'timeless elegance with craftsmanship and practicality'.

Paying tribute to Princess Anne, Zara said: 'Mum taught me the importance of having good-quality clothing that keeps you warm and comfortable outdoors .'

Zara, who often attends events with her husband Mike Tindall, and their children – Mia, 11, Lena, six, and three-year-old Lucas, also explained how her outfits are tailored to the occasion.

She said: 'So, for instance, when I go to Australia for the annual Magic Millions event, I wear a mix of British and Australian designers, and then continue wearing them when I'm back in the UK.'

At Cheltenham, Zara was accompanied by Mike, the former England rugby union captain, as well as other VIPs like ashion designer Jade Holland Cooper and TV personality Georgia Toffolo.

Zara's latest appearance comes after she and Mike attended the Legends of Rugby Dinner last month.

Zara was photographed gazing adoringly at her partner before affectionately resting her hand on the lapel of his blazer as they cuddled up closer together.#

Dressed to impress, the royal put her best fashion foot forward as she stepped out at the swanky five-star hotel JW Marriott Grosvenor House on Park Lane in London.

Joining her husband of more than 13 years, Zara chose an all-black ensemble for the event, which is held in aid of Nordoff and Robbins, the UK's largest music therapy charity.

She donned a chic black velvet blazer with a pair of slim-fit black suit trousers to compliment her slender frame.

The mother-of-three paired her ensemble with a pair of pointed onyx-coloured kitten heels with gold detailing.

Meanwhile, Mike, 46, looked dapper in a matching navy suit and crisp white shirt, complete with brown polished shoes.

The Legends of Rugby Dinner celebrates its 30th year, honouring the careers of players Courtney Lawes and Katy Daley-Mclean.
