1. Shocktober | 601 Catoctin Cir NE, Leesburg, VA 20176 | October 4–November 2

Rated the 5th scariest haunted house in all of the United States, "Shocktober" is guaranteed to give you nightmares! With realistic makeup and special effects, the attraction will lead you through three different scare levels including Carnival of Souls, the basement of Carlheim Manor, and a section dedicated to creepy clowns. 2. Haunted Nightmares | Hill High Farm, 933 Barley Lane, Winchester, VA 22602 | October 1–31

Haunted Nightmares will take you through a whirlwind of frightful activities, including a moonlight hayride, haunted house, escape rooms, and a corn maze. The haunted house is incredibly creepy, with plenty of frights, gruesome scenarios, and professional lighting and actors to scare you into your dreams. Tickets are $12–$15 each. Get them here!

3. Haunted Hunt Club Farm | 2388 London Bridge Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23456 | September 27–October 31

Hunt Club Farm has the most popular haunted house in all of Hampton Roads because they are known for taking it over the top. Hunt Club Farm brings it every year with plenty of scary attractions, hired actors, and realistic decor. The farm features a Haunted Hayride, Field of Screams, and a Village of the Dead, all of which will serve and satisfy your spooky needs. Plus, don't forget the carnival rides, plenty of delicious food, drinks, and a scarecrow on stilts working his way through the main barn. Hunt Club Farm goes all out! Tickets are $25 per person! 4. Den of Fear | 109 W. 15th Street, Richmond, Virginia | October 19–November 3

Located in the Dogtown Dance Theater, the "Den of Fear" haunted house will scare you into wanting more. Actors will welcome you into the haunted house to partake in an interactive journey that will involve your speed and wits. They'll then follow you around and use all the tricks in the book to make your experience memorable! Tickets are $15 each. Learn more on the Den of Fear website!

5. Spooky Acres Haunted House | 5957 East Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, Va. 23502 | September 17–November 3

The Spooky Acres Haunted House includes both an autopsy room and an electric chair. You are guaranteed to scream your guts out as you weave your way through the maze. Tickets are $15 each. Check the event out here!

6. Darkwood Manor Haunted House | 104 N. Hawksbill St., Luray, Virginia

Not your typical haunted house, Darkwood Manor goes above and beyond with movie quality makeup, actors, and attractions! It's even been voted No. 1 on The Haunt Rater list! 7. Mountain Empire Haunted Forest | 3441 Mountain Empire Road, Big Stone Gap, VA 24219 | October 9–31

The Haunted Forest is an incredibly creepy haunted house hosted by Mountain Empire Community College. Experience walking with the dead—up close and personal! Tickets are $10 per victim. Check out the house here!

8. Madame Redrum Nine Gates of Doom | 717 Rockfish Road, Waynesboro, VA 22980 | September 27–October 31

Madame Redrum's Haunted House is like no other. Known for its intensity and sensory overload, the haunted house will take you through a course of bloody walls, high scares, and a series of scare tests. This haunted house is not recommended for children under the age of 12. Tickets are $13 a person. Get them here!

9. Frightmare | 1905 South Military Hwy, Chesapeake, VA 23320 | September 12–October 31

Frightmare, the local Hampton Roads haunted house, will feature a HellHouse theme this year that is guaranteed to knock your socks off. The staff works diligently to make sure to "bring it" every year with dedicated teamwork and out-of-this-world scares. Tickets are $20 per person—get them here! 10. 43 Nightmares | 1955 Birch Creek Rd., Keeling, VA 24566 | September 27–November 2

43 Nightmares is a mind-boggling attraction that will scare your pants off. It will take you through a series of 43 nightmare scenes involving torture, madness, and plenty of jump scares. Tickets are $13-$25 each. Check the house out here!
