Play in the sand at this relaxing summer spot in the harbor.

The harbor in Baltimore is a destination enjoyed by tourists and locals alike. Two summers ago, Harbor East added a waterfront spot called the Sandlot. This open-air haven is a beach playground in the city, complete with a full-service bar and restaurant. The 30,000-square-foot space has restaurant seating, a multi-generational playground, and a bar, all situated on a sand beach. In addition to regular service, Sandlot hosts a variety of theme nights and events throughout the season.

What to Do While You’re There

Sandlot is great place to relax on a summer day with your friends, the kids, and the dog (yes, dogs are allowed). Relax in a beach chair, take a turn on the swings, or play a friendly game of giant Jenga or cornhole. If you get hungry, try a bite from Sandlot’s beach-inspired menu, and pair it with a craft beer or specialty cocktail. When night falls you can appreciate the nighttime views of Domino Sugar and other harbor landmarks.

Summer Entertainment

The 2019 entertainment lineup includes live music, yoga, trivia night, and art workshops. Every Thursday night, Sandlot is partnering with Baltimore Water Taxi for a sunset cruise and happy hour. Guests will start with a cruise around the bay and then disembark for happy hour specials at Sandlot.

What to Know Before You Go

Sandlot runs on a no-cash system, so make sure you bring a credit card. Dogs are welcome, as long as they are on a leash.

There are three ways to get to Sandlot. If you’re driving, head to Dock and Caroline Street and park in one of the nearby parking garages. You can walk to Sandlot by taking the waterfront pedestrian trail that runs from the Inner Harbor to Harbor Point. By water, take the Baltimore Water Taxi to the Dock at Maritime Park.

The Sandlot is primarily an outdoor venue, so check the weather before you go!
