This new exhibit uses digital projection to surround visitors with holiday cheer.

If you would love to visit a holiday display but don’t want to venture out in the cold, ARTECHOUSE in Washington, D.C., has something great for you. DC’s premier digital museum is switching things up for the holidays with a new show called SPECTACULAR FACTORY: The Holiday Multiverse.

The interactive exhibit runs through January 8, 2023, and takes visitors through an immersive holiday wonderland filled with nutcrackers, bells, candy canes, and more. The indoor holiday display is family-friendly and offers special deals for locals throughout the season.

When visitors enter the exhibit they will be surrounded by panoramic floor-to-ceiling images of thousands of nutcrackers, a jolly candy carousel, giant jingle bells, and a train ride through holiday wreaths. A specialized audio system and virtual camera with a 100 million-pixel display create a mesmerizing experience for everyone who enters.

The museum’s downloadable app lets guests interact with the display by scanning QR codes to collect prizes as they move through the museum.

The exhibit also has several smaller galleries with film and motion experiences. Guests that are over 21 can end their visit by stopping at the XR Bar and enjoying a special holiday-themed cocktail.

SPECTACULAR FACTORY: The Holiday Multiverse at ARTECHOUSE DC is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

ARTECHOUSE also has a special date night package for two that includes admission and two XR cocktails. The XR Bar is open Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to close and from 11 a.m. to close on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
