See the African elephant barn and its inhabitants first-hand—all from your computer!
Elephants are some of our favorite animals to see at the zoo, but what if we told you there was an even better way to see them up-close?
No, we're not pulling your trunk. To accommodate all of us in quarantine, the Maryland Zoo is offering quite the treat: virtual behind-the-scenes tours! All May long, join the zoo's staff for an exclusive look into the recently renovated African elephant barn, complete with appearances from the larger-than-life creatures themselves. All you'll need is your computer and the Zoom app!
These informative sessions provide a rare glimpse into the world of elephant care and conservation. The tours are brief—around 20-30 minutes—but they'll be jam-packed with cool things to see and learn. A Q&A session will give you the chance to ask the staff members about the elephants and their habitat. Nothing beats hearing from the experts, and the team will give you the insider scoop on the ins and outs of elephant care.
