According to Forbes Magazine, the Baltimore Orioles' Camden Yards is the second-best baseball stadium in the nation.
Forbes magazine has just published its list of best MLB Parks and Oriole Park at Camden Yards ranked as the second-best baseball stadium, coming in behind San Francisco’s AT&T Park. The ranking may come as a surprise to some, seeing as the stadium, which opened in 1992, doesn't have the sentimental history like Chicago’s Wrigley field or Boston’s Fenway Park does, nor does it have the latest amenities of newer parks like Washington, D.C.’s Nationals Park. What it does lack in, Camden Yards makes up for it with its charm. [caption id="attachment_8432" align="aligncenter" width="1000"] Courtesy of Max Mason[/caption]
Forbes’ list was comprised based on the aesthetics of design, setting, views from the stands and other areas, the amenities of each respective facility, historical relevance, and any other factors that influence the overall fan experience.
Camden Yards’ No. 2 ranking can be attributed to the overall feel of the ballpark as well as its location and proximity to the downtown inner harbor, giving the park an atmosphere few other places have. Plus, the general area in and around Camden Yards is stunning.
Washington, D.C.’s Nationals Park, despite being 16 years younger than Camden Yards, came in at No. 24 (of 30). The two oldest and most historic stadiums, Boston’s Fenway Park -- home of the infamous “Green Monster” -- and Chicago’s Wrigley field, were ranked No. 7 and 10, respectively.
