The season kicks off with "Jurassic Park" on March 5.

The Alexandria Drive-In Theatre has returned to give movie-lovers their fix for the big screen. The theater, which boasts a 55-foot screen at its location on 5001 Eisenhower Avenue, also posted its film lineup for March.

For $40 per car, movie-goers can experience a variety of films, from beloved classics to family-friendly fare all month. Features include Despicable Me, The Princess Bride, and Back to the Future, with Jurassic Park kicking things off on March 5.

The drive-in launched in 2020 to combat the financial crisis caused by COVID-19, where they successfully raised over $100,000 for the community. This year, they plan to do it again: screenings will benefit two charities, The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria and ATHENA Rapid Response Innovation Lab, which have both helped citizens weather the pandemic's storm in the DMV.

Theatre co-founder Allen Brooks is particularly ecstatic about the last feature of the month, Remember the Titans. In an exciting twist, WTOP reports current team members are slated to volunteer the night of the screening.

“It’s Alexandria’s movie!” Brooks told WTOP. “As a former Titan and a former student of Coach Boone’s, I would be remiss if we didn’t do everything in our power to make it happen. … We’re working with the Alexandria high school to get some special guests to come to the drive-in.”

Guests can check-in at the front gate and will need to wear masks and maintain social distancing practices. There will also be food trucks and restrooms available on the grounds.

So if you need an escape from the living room couch for movie night, step right up and order your tickets here. Tickets can only be purchased on their website, and we recommend grabbing them ASAP.
