Here are 25 movies we're itching to see in 2018!
So 2017 was quite a year for movies releases
, and it looks like 2018 is going to be just as impressive! Here are 25 movies that we're most excited for this year -- with trailers! (You're welcome.)
Chadwick Boseman's introduction into the MCU as T'Challa in Captain America: Civil War
was, in a word, epic! Boseman makes his grand return as the King of Wakanda, along with the equally talented cast, including Lupita Nyogn'o, Danai Gurira, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Sterling K. Brown, Michael B. Jordan, Andy Serkis, and Martin Freeman.
Based on the first novel in Jeff VanderMeer's Southern Reach trilogy, Annihilation
finds Natalie Portman and a team of scientists entering Area X, a zone that's been marked as an environmental hazard and where things aren't exactly as they appear.
A Wrinkle in Time
After her father's disappearance, a young girl, her little brother, and her classmate must journey to a new planet in search of him. While there they discover three mysterious beings who guide them on their adventure through time and space. The movie is based on the 1962 novel of the same name by Madeleine L'Engle. It stars Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Chris Pine, and Zach Galifianakis.
This doesn't mark the first time we've seen heroine Lara Croft on the big screen (who could ever forget Angelina Jolie as the titular character?), but that doesn't make it any less exciting. Alicia Vikander gives audiences a look at Lara Croft before she became the dual-pistol-wielding hero we all know. And it makes me that much more excited to complete the Tomb Raider
games (from 2013 and 2015) before its release!
Pacific Rim: Uprising
John Boyega is stepping away briefly from the Star Wars
universe and into another science-fiction movie. He stars as Jake Pentecost, the new leader of the next generation of fighters against the alien monsters that seek to end humanity as we know it.
Ready Player One
Stephen Spielberg brings Ernest Cline's best-selling novel to life in this 2018 adaptation. Set in the year 2045, the world has drastically changed and is on the brink of ending. But, because of a virtual reality universe called the OASIS, there's still hope.
A Quiet Place
Nothing is more terrifying than silence. And in this supernatural thriller, it's the only thing that's keeping this family alive. They communicate in sign language and avoid doing anything that could result in a loud noise. The movie stars John Krasinski (who's also directing) and Emily Blunt.
Avengers: Infinity War
Everything the Marvel Cinematic Universe has created over the last 10 years has led to this moment. All of the heroes must work together in order to defeat the all-powerful Thanos, who's on a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones. The MCU is about to change ... forever.
Solo: A Star Wars Story
After the massive disappointment that was The Last Jedi
(read our review
), many of us are trying to keep our hopes up that this Han Solo spin-off won't crash and burn. While Disney is already predicting its inevitable failure, we still consider it a contender on the most-anticipated movies list due to the fact that we're wondering just how bad
it will be.

Bullock is accompanied by an all-star female cast that includes Rihanna, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, and Awkwafina. Can you say "Girl Power!"
It's been 14 years since The Incredibles
was released and now we get to see how the Parr family's story continues in the long-awaited sequel. If only we could get a sequel to A Bug's Life
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Taking place four years after the events of Jurassic World
, Chris Pratt is back as Owen and Bryce Dallas Howard reprises her role as Claire as the two try to save the remaining dinosaurs from extinction. Fans of the original movies will recognize a few familiar faces, including Jeff Goldblum and B.D. Wong.
Ant-Man and the Wasp

Benedict Cumberbatch is turning green in Illumination Entertainment's (makers of Despicable Me
) new animated movie, The Grinch
. It's a retelling of Dr. Seuss' famous children's book, How the Grinch Stole Christmas
. (I'm partial to Jim Carrey's version, but that's just me.)

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
There's more than one Spider-Man in the universe, and this new animated movie dives into the unlimited number of possibilities. Audiences will meet Brooklyn teenager Miles Morales as he's thrust into the Spider-Verse.
Bumblebee: The Movie
Before Bumblebee was driving around with Shia LaBeouf in Michael Bay's Transformers
series, he was a broken-down Volkswagen Bug. The movie takes place in the 1980s and stars Pitch Perfect 3
's Hailee Steinfeld as Charlie, a teen trying to find her place in the world.

We were introduced to Arthur Curry aka Aquaman (Jason Momoa) in DC's mega-flop The Justice League
, and now the underwater hero is branching out on his own in his first solo film. Fans are hopeful that Aquaman
will be able to redeem the DCEU's failing track record (with the exception of Wonder Woman
-- the only good thing to come out of the DCEU). Is Momoa strong enough to pull DC out of the depths? We'll have to wait and see ...
