Want to hang at the beach without having to drive hours away? Try out the beach bar at Pike & Rose in Bethesda this summer!

During the summer, nothing beats the feeling of a sandy beach. Now you don't have to travel far to enjoy the beach vibes! Pike & Rose, a Bethesda area shopping mall, is debuting an outdoor "beach bar" complete with over 250 tons of sand, lounge chairs, an outdoor fire pit, and even a mural of waves painted on the sidewalk. [gallery type="rectangular" size="large" ids="9597,9598"] The beach bar is simply called "The Beach" and will be in the parking lot next to Rose Park and the Porsche Bethesda dealership. Parking is available at 11580 Old Georgetown Road, North Bethesda, and is free for the first two hours. The beach area will be open daily for shoppers to hang out and enjoy the sand but transforms into a bar only on Fridays and Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. The beach bar is weather-dependent, so the owners recommend you check out the live cam of the bar to see if it's open. The bar will have tropical drinks such as an Orange Crush as well as beer and wine. Visitors can get food at one of the restaurants located in the shopping mall.
The Beach is perfect for kicking back for your friends or taking the whole family out for an escape from the urban environment. Not only will the bar have Adirondack chairs but also sand pails and shovels for kids ... and maybe for adults as well! Federal Realty, who opened The Beach, also hopes to host free fitness classes and pop-up parties at the location all summer long! What do you think? Will you be heading over to The Beach?
