But because rhinos have a 15- to 16-month gestation period, zoo officials have known about the little bundle of joy since conception in November 2018!

Look out, world, the cub we've all grown to love is out and about! Yet to be named (you can help, see below!), the little cub has been the darling of videos as we've seen him go from a teeny little thing to a roly-poly exploring machine. Now, you can visit him at Pahali Ya Mwana, which is on the left-most side of Predator Ridge. He'll be out from about 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on most days, weather permitting, to greet his fans and check out his new digs with his pride.
John Ralston coached the Broncos first winning season in 1973. The Broncos owe a lot to former head coach, John Ralston. His tenure marks the turning point in the team's record, setting it on the path to several Super Bowl championships down the road. His legacy has had a lasting effect on the Broncos franchise that has echoed for decades. Ralston passed away on September 14 at the age of 92.
Only a year out from completing breast cancer treatment, Sarah Thomas of Conifer, stepped into the chilly waters of the English Channel to start an epic feat. Dedicating her swim to "all the survivors out there," she started swimming the English Channel and didn't stop until she swam more than 54 miles.

When Labor Day ends three things happen: people are super bummed the last of the summer holidays has passed, meteorological fall begins, and the top 5-mile stretch of road to the summit of Mount Evans closes for the season. Lower section will remain open until Oct. 7, depending on weather conditions.
Zoo says exhibit no longer meets the needs of animals and guests. The Bird World exhibit served the zoo well for several decades, but it doesn't meet the zoo's modern standards of efficiency and sustainability, and extensive, costly repairs are just too much to undertake. The exhibit will close on October 1, making way for new habitats and guest experiences, which will be announced in the future.
The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (CMZoo) is doing something special for the men and women of our military. From September 9-15, all active duty service members, veteran and retired military, and immediate family members who live in the same household can visit the zoo for half off the base admission to spend the day with the animals.
The project has torn up a 12.5-mile stretch of C-470 with a goal of adding Express Lanes to alleviate the congestion that has plagued that section for years. Project was slated to end by August 1. Now predicted to end sometime between December 2019 and June 2020.

Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) officials are proposing to raise camping fees and implement a flat-rate fee for certain areas. This would be the first fee increase in four years and is based on comparable fees in nearby campgrounds. Park staff are interested in hearing what you think about the proposed fee increase. You can email comments to RMNP officials by September 27, 2019.

Walt Weiss, former Rockies shortstop and manager, has put his mansion on the market, and it's got everything you need to live the high life. You could say this property is a "diamond in the rough," but there is nothing rough about it (except maybe some of the foothills acreage).
The Air Force Academy announced that it will be making extensive renovations to its Cadet Chapel. Visitors who want to see it before it closes down for the 3-year repair and preservation projects will have to visit on or before September 3. Starting on September 4, crews will begin to move furniture and make other preparations for the renovations. It will be stripped down to its frame and aluminum panels will be replaced, as well as all of the stained glass pieces.
