A Little History Behind the Prevost
The iconic brand was started by a man named Eugène Prévost back in 1919. At the time, The Prevost Company was a furniture and woodworking business. Prevost eventually transitioned to a bus company when they received their first order for a wooden bus body, which was completed in 1924 and made of wood with aluminum sheeting. This led to more orders and, eventually, the company shifted its focus solely to bus production. After a commission from the Defence Ministry of Canada, Eugène changed the bus design to be a metal body over a wooden frame and then later to an all-metal body and an all-metal skeleton.
As time went on, he started to work on highway motorcoaches. By the 1940s, the company had become the largest bus builder in Canada. Eugène passed in 1965, but his company continues to thrive, and his legacy lives on.
