We sat down with a Waterworks employee to get some insight into what it's like to work at a car wash facility.

We spoke with Kevin, a Waterworks employee, to learn more about the job and the business, taking a deeper look into the operations of a car wash facility and what it's like to work for one. Read on to learn more.
What is something that the average person wouldn't know or expect about car wash operations?
A surprising fun fact about car wash operations is that an automated conveyor wash uses less freshwater than washing your vehicle at home! Water reclaims systems, along with eco-friendly learning products, provide a clean vehicle while keeping the environment safe and using less water.
Can you explain a typical day at the car wash?
A typical day at the car wash starts with building a forecast to see what type of volume we're anticipating for the day. An algorithm combines historical data and current weather forecasts to predict our volume. It's a lot like a sports team—rotating employees to other areas to process the number of cars that arrive on the lot.
What's something special or unique about Waterworks that you'd want people to know?
Waterworks is unique because we are a full-service carwash that also offers detail services. We do all the work, unlike an express wash, with free vacuums! Our detail services are also a step above the rest! Anything from a simple shampoo cleaning of carpets fabric to buffing and waxing. We do all the work so you can dedicate your time to other errands on your to-do list.
Do you have any favorite customers or "regulars"?
We have lots of loyal customers that participate in our monthly program, along with many other customers that have been regulars for over 35 years (since 1987)! Many of our customers are on a first-name basis and special requests are always met with a smile and a solution.
Is there anything that has made a customer(s) particularly happy that was surprising?
Many customers at our full-service carwash are happy to know we provide solutions to their vehicle cleaning needs. Our detail services focus on all types of vehicle services, from a simple wax or vinyl treatment to a complete detail.
What is your favorite aspect of this job?
My favorite aspect of this job is each day brings a different set of challenges. A full-service wash has many moving parts, from staffing employees to operations and maintenance of the facility. The motivating factor is to find the solution to any problem that may arise, and that gives a sense of accomplishment to look back at and a good feeling to go home with.
