It's a Race to the Clouds

All you motorsports junkies know I'm talking, of course, about the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. For those of you who are less familiar, the PPIHC is an all-out, 12.42-mile thrash consisting of 156 turns -- at speeds where guardrails don't make a difference -- that finishes with the view that inspired 'America the Beautiful.'
It's a race that's been attracting motorsports fans from around the world since 1916 and has tested the likes of some of the world's greatest racing drivers like Bobby Unser, Ari Vatanen, and Sébastein Loeb, just to name a few. And on June 24, you'll have your chance to be part of that history. Here's Ari Vatanen's dance up the mountain: Featured vehicles include everything from motorcycles, motorcycles with sidecars, vintage muscle cars, electric cars, rally cars, open-wheel racers, and more. And now the whole thing is paved, but that doesn't mean it doesn't require samurai-sword sharp driving skills. After all, many of these cars run 800+ horsepower and we all know it's difficult to finesse anything with 800 horses. With that said, here's Sébastien Loeb's record-setting run in 2013: If that doesn't give you chills as a motorsports person, then I don't know what will! So if this sounds like something you'd like to witness, check out the PPIHC website for complete details. There's everything from merchandise, to practice, to fan fest, and more! What do you think?
