Getting tired of dinner and a movie? Show your significant other some love with these creative date night ideas.

Whether you're seeking a fun first date or looking to spice things up with a night out, planning a great date night requires a little creativity. You could go to your favorite restaurant or bar again and again, but if you want to share an evening you'll remember, you'll need to think outside the box. Fortunately, Denver is full of unique opportunities for novel experiences and date night classics alike. Here are our favorites.

Dress to the nines and hit up a speakeasy

If you're in the mood for alcohol, but want something a little more romantic than your favorite brewery, consider checking out one of Denver's secret speakeasy-style bars. Sneak into Retrograde, which is hidden behind an ice cream shop, or Green Russell, which is concealed behind a pie shop. Also, check out these other secret watering holes in Denver.

Collaborate in an escape room

Don't panic -- you've got your partner by your side. Spend an hour or so problem-solving with your significant other as you try to escape. There are several escape rooms to choose from, including The Denver Escape Room, which has multiple themes and difficulty levels.

Become a pinball wizard at an arcade

Got some extra quarters lying around? Enjoy some good casual fun at a local arcade. There are dozens of games to choose from at The 1Up, which has two locations, and plenty of beers on tap.

Check out a flick at the drive-in movie theater

If you're looking for romance, try catching a new or classic flick from the privacy of your own car. You'll need to wait for summer to try this date night idea, but it's a good one to keep in your back pocket. Check out the Denver Mart Drive-In or the 88 Drive-In Theatre

Have an axe-throwing competition

We'll admit, this one is a little unusual, but it can be a lot of fun. If you want to let out some post-workday aggression alongside your significant other, check out Bad Axe Throwing or Downtown Art Gallery & Axe Room. (Read more about axe-throwing here.)

Dance the night away

Put on your dancing shoes and head to Mercury Cafe for swing dancing, Grizzly Rose for line dancing, La Rumba for Latin dance, or Goosetown Tavern for Motown Thursdays, to name a few.

Enjoy Denver's thriving art scene

There's so much art to see and talk about in Denver, we're not even sure where to start. Check out the First Friday Art Walk, explore the MCA Denver, or pop in and out of galleries.

Get active or go outdoors

This is Denver, so chances are that both you and your date enjoy staying active and exploring the great outdoors. Summertime is perfect for a sunset paddle, while winter weather makes indoor rock-climbing an appealing choice. (Check out these five Colorado adventures you should add to your bucket list!)

Catch a tour

From marijuana tours to wine tours, to food tours and scavenger hunts, there are a number of options for exploring Denver if you don't mind going with a group.

See a live show

Whether you head to Red Rocks for a concert (view the 2019 schedule!), catch a cheap show at Hi-Dive, see a comedy show at Comedy Works, catch live entertainment at Clocktower Cabaret, or get tickets to a play or ballet, seeing a live performance is bound to give you something to chat about over drinks afterward.
