Who would have guessed some of the coolest things happening in Maryland are also free? When we think concerts or music workshops, we usually assume they cost money. That's not the case! Here are five free things to do during the month of March, no wallet required.
Vigilante Coffee Cuppings | Friday, March 1 | 1-2 p.m.

It's a given that people love coffee, but do you know how coffee gets its rich, delicious taste? The experts at Vigilante Coffee can tell you all about it with their "cupping" events, AKA tastings. Kick-start your afternoon with a shot of caffeine and interesting facts about coffee! Visitors will get to try a variety of blends and learn about the methods that create coffee's distinct flavors. Annual Mardi Gras Parade | Friday, March 8 | 6:30-7:30 p.m.

"Laissez les bons temps roulez," or let the good times roll, with Havre de Grace's Annual Mardi Gras Parade. Starting appropriately between Bourbon Street and Washington Street, the parade will go through downtown and end at the veteran's organization American Legion on St. John's Street. The affair will be colorful and full of life, exactly fitting with celebrating the city's French heritage. Free DJ Workshop by Beat Refinery | Tuesday, March 12 | 6-8 p.m.

Have you ever wanted to be a DJ? Let Beat Refinery at Bach to Rock music school teach you the basics in this all-inclusive workshop. The pros will show you how to properly scratch a turntable, introduce old and new techniques, and make the perfect mix for your next set. Peabody Gospel Concert | Saturday, March 16 | 3 p.m.

Vocalists and musicians from the renowned Peabody Institute will meet with local gospel singers in a rousing musical combination. Held at the Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall, the concert will cover classics of the genre and keep performers and attendees swaying to the music's enthralling power. Women's History Month Poetry Festival 2019 | Saturday, March 30 | 2-5 p.m.

March is Women's History Month, and local community arts strategy Creative Suitland is honoring women and the "Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin with a poetry festival. Bring your fellow queens and watch poetesses Ladi D, Poetry4TheSoul, Sistah Fire, and Lady Fire enchant crowds with their poetic prowess.
