The Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens originated in a scenic area of Anacostia Park in 1926. The park came from the 1926 act of Congress that fights for the preservation of forests, water quality, and the recreation that comes from these D.C. waterways and areas. And the park manages to achieve this while dazzling the visitors it attracts!

While taking a peaceful stroll, you can see (and take plenty of Instagram pics of) the aquatic plants that make the park their home. There'll be lilies, pink lotus flowers, tropical lilies, and Victoria water lilies wading around during spring and summer. Even in the fall, the rich autumn colors of the trees and plants are gorgeous. And don't leave behind binoculars—look for turtles, snakes, butterflies, and over 40 bird species!
