Could this be "fake news?" It seems too good to be true, but don't worry. It's really real. Earth Treks Climbing Gym is coming to Hampden, Baltimore in 2018.
Hampden is one of Baltimore's hippest neighborhoods. It's full of trendy restaurants, bars, shops, and, of course, trendy people. It's pretty much the gentrification capital of Baltimore city! Conveniently for the owners of Earth Treks Climbing Gym, it's full of remnants of Baltimore's rich industrial history; sprawling warehouses are standing empty, just waiting to be filled with middle-class attractions.
If you live in Baltimore and you're tired of driving to Earth Treks Columbia, Timonium, or Rockville, then you're in luck. Earth Treks is bringing a 20,000-square-foot bouldering gym to Hampden.

The old warehouse space soon to become the largest bouldering-centric climbing gym in Maryland[/caption]
The gym will be located at 1700 W 41st Street, easily accessible via route 83 and public transit systems. The location will have plenty of parking, which is necessary since the building will also be home to Union Craft
‘s new brewery and taproom. We recommend grabbing a beer after
climbing, not the other way around.
In addition to over 10,000 square feet of bouldering space, the massive gym will also include a yoga studio, functional fitness and cardio zones, training areas, and a retail pro-shop.
Earth Treks Hampden Features:
- 10,000 sq ft of bouldering terrain
- Climbing walls constructed by Walltopia, designed by Jason Kehl
- Dedicated yoga studio, fitness and climbing training areas
- Locker rooms
- Gear shop
- Ample parking and easy access from I-83
Like their other locations, the Hampden location will offer daily fitness classes to help climbers cross-train and stay fit when not on the wall.
