Maryland wouldn't be Maryland without summer festivals and these festivals wouldn't be festivals without good food and drink!
This weekend, there are three food and drink related festivals that you do NOT want to miss.Annapolis Arts and Wine Festival - Annapolis June 10 & 11
The gates of the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium open at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11 for Annapolis' premiere art and wine festival. This pet-friendly festival lets visitors taste wines from 24 Maryland wineries while taking in the best visual and performing art Annapolis has to offer. There will be live music all day long from 11 local bands. At least 13 of the best area food trucks will be on hand in case you get hungry and there will be live art demonstrations and training opportunities for attendees. If you see a piece of art that you like, many of the pieces on display will be available for purchase. There will also be vendors on hand selling crafts and gourmet food items. Wine-tasting tickets start at $35 and are available through Eventbrite until the day before the festival. Tasting tickets purchased the day-of the event at the door will be $45. On-site parking will be available at the stadium for $10 a car. All attendees looking to drink will be asked to produce photo-ID proving they are over the age of 21.St. Mary's Crab Festival - Leonardtown June 10
Some say that Marylanders have an unhealthy obsession with crabs, but can you blame us? They're delicious! This will be the 32nd year that the Lenoardtown Lions Club will put on its crab festival. Located at the St. Mary's Fairground, visitors will get a get to experience St. Mary's crab culture first hand. No matter how you like your crab, there will food for you. Vendors will be offering steamed hard crabs, crab soups, crab cakes, and other seafood dishes for purchase. Once you're done eating, browse through the craft tables and purchase "crabby" themed items from regional artists. The festival will also include a crab picking competition -- with $75 going to the winner -- and event will also include a classic car show.
The event is a local favorite, bringing people of all ages and walks of life together to celebrate the mighty crab and its role in our society and palate.
Gate admission is $5 and children under the age of 11 get in free. The event is also pet-friendly, so feel free to bring your leashed four-legged friends. Nearly all proceeds go to Local and International Lions Club Community Service Programs.
