The long-awaited Mission BBQ restaurant in Woodbridge will open its doors for a few hours on Friday night for a USO fundraiser, three days before the restaurant officially opens.
Locals have been waiting months for the new Mission BBQ fast-casual restaurant to open on Prince William Parkway. While the location will formally open to the public on Monday, October 2, you can actually grab a taste of mouthwatering barbecue before the grand opening.
On Friday, September 29, the new Mission BBQ will host a Military Appreciation Night fundraiser and give the community a chance to try their food ahead of the grand opening and donate to a great cause at the same time. All sales from the fundraiser will go to the United Service Organizations (USO), a non-profit organization that provides live entertainment and other services to members of the United States Armed Forces and their families. Friday's fundraiser will specifically go to the USO-Metro branch, focusing on serving military families in the DC Metro Area.
Many new restaurants will stage a "soft opening" just before their grand opening in order to give their staff practice in preparing and serving food in a live environment. Oftentimes, these soft openings are private events open only to friends and family of the employees. Mission BBQ, however, has chosen to run a public soft opening and donate all of their sales to charity, which is a great gesture to a community that has literally been counting the days until the doors would open.
Friday's event is open to the public and will run from 6 to 9 p.m. at 13890 Shoppers Best Way, right next to the Hobby Lobby. If you miss the USO-fundraiser soft opening, you will have to wait until Monday when the restaurant formally opens.
Mission BBQ's menu includes all the best comfort foods: pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, sausage, and delicious southern side dishes like macaroni and cheese or cold slaw.
