Places in Maryland Everyone Should Visit at Least Once
From bars to libraries here are the places in Maryland you need to visit at least once. Let's start checking some of these places off your list!
BTB Coffee Bar/Speakeasy
Remember when alcohol was outlawed in the 1920’s? Yeah, me neither - but back then they had what we call ‘speakeasies’, or an underground bar. Maryland is home to the BTB Coffee Bar, a fully functioning coffee shop in the front, and a speakeasy in the back (move over mullet - the real party is here!).
Historic St. Mary’s City
Can you really explore Maryland without a visit to a historic colonial city? Historic St. Mary’s City offers nature trails, archaeology, and live reenactments of settlement life. Step onto a replica 17th century vessel, see a working colonial farm, and hear stories surrounding the 1600’s .
National Capital Trolley Museum
The National Capital Trolley Museum in Colesville details the history of trolleys - in the best way. Hop on one of their several vintage trolleys for a hands on experience you won’t soon forget!
Patapsco Valley State Park
Explorers, rejoice! The Patapsco Valley State Park has ruins, waterfalls, tunnels, and so much more spanning the 32 miles. Maryland’s famous swinging bridge also dwells here!
George Peabody Library
You don’t have to be a bookworm to admire this library. Dating back to 1878, the George Peabody Library looks like something straight out of Beauty and the Beast. Five tiers of balconies rise to meet the 61 ft. skylight in the ceiling, and over 300,000 books line the walls.
Assateague Island
At only 37 miles long, Assateague Island is most renowned for its feral horse population. The island is open to the public, with bridges that connect to the mainland. Kayak, hike, or sunbathe among the different landscapes while enjoying the massive amount of wildlife found here.
