One of the biggest fairs in Maryland is coming! Get ready for the Great Frederick Fair on September 15, full of great music and tons of fun for the whole family.
Now in its 155th year, The Great Frederick Fair is one a huge event and will be held on the Frederick County Fairgrounds. The festival welcomes back Reithoffer Shows for the company’s 23rd consecutive year of providing carnival rides. 26 rides in all will be setup while another dozen or so games will be setup for everyone’s enjoyment and entertainment. You'll enjoy various activities at the fair, including a horse pull contest, free harness racing, farm and garden demos, an antique car parade, carriage parade, stick horse workshop and contest, and even a fiber workshop! When you're not being entertained by the fun activities, enjoy some music the Grandstand will be featuring. Several well-known bands and musical performers promise to make this year’s fair the best yet. The Great Frederick Fair recently completed its entertainment lineup. Chair of the Entertainment Committee Jim Grimes says that there will be an "extraordinary caliber of artists performing" this year. Tickets to each of the concerts requires a separate ticket, which range from $40-$53. Concert tickets also include gate admission into the fair.Musical Lineup
Many music fans will be pleased to hear that the multi-platinum band 3 Doors Down will perform on the first night of the fair. Saturday, September 16 [gallery columns="2" size="large" ids="3396,3397"] Fair attendees will have the chance to checkout a performance by country legends Travis Tritt and The Charlie Daniels band. Followed by a performance by Cole Swindell that Sunday. Thursday, September 21 Classic rock band The Doobie Brothers will play as part of the Bud Light Concert Series on September 21. The Doobie Brothers are best known for songs such as “Long Train Runnin’”, “Listen to the Music,” “Black Water “and “China Grove” -- all of which are considered classic tunes and staples of rock stations everywhere. Friday, September 22 Grammy award winning Christian Rock band Casting Crowns. The band has consistently recorded, toured and received critical acclaim since their inception in 1999. Saturday, September 23 The final musical performance will be by Lee Brice. Brice has three albums and has been nominated for numerous awards, while his singles have succeeded on country music charts. Brice’s latest album yielded his fourth chart topping single “I Don’t Dance” as well as the single “Drinking Class,” which reached number two on Country Airplay charts in 2015.
The main entertainment will consist of three nights of Motorsports. On Monday (September 18), Lucas Oil and Krietz Auto will present a truck and tractor pull, while demolition derbies will keep the crowds entertained the following Tuesday. Wednesday will feature demolition derbies, but rather than cars, vans and trucks will on display. Tickets are $23.
Basic one-day admission is $5 on September 15, but it bumps up to $8 for September 19-23; three-day gate passes are $21. Children 10 and under can get in for free.
