Calling all pint-sized fairies and elves to welcome the flowers and spring.
Don't miss the annual Tulip Fairy and Elf Festival on the Pearl Street Mall on April 7! This Boulder tradition welcomes spring by filling the mall with tulips and more tulips. More than 15,000 tulips will make their debut and stick around through the spring season.
This tradition will also feature performances and special activities for kids. Foam sword dueling, art projects, face painting, nature activities, cookie decorating, and much more will be on hand to keep everyone excited. Children (and adults, of course) are also encouraged to don their most magical fairy and elf costume and join in the fun!
"Spring officially arrives in Downtown Boulder when the vibrant Tulip Fairy, along with pint-sized fairies and elves, parade around the Pearl Street Mall ‘welcoming the tulips’," says the event's Facebook page.
For the first time, the event will also offer a free kids' yoga class on the Courthouse Lawn.

If you want to catch a kid-friendly performance on the stage at the 1300 block of Pearl Street, here is the lineup, according to boulderdowntown.com:
1-1:45 p.m. -- Alice in Wonderland - Boulder Performing Arts
2-3 p.m. -- The Music of Rock N' Roll For Kids - The Rock and Roll Playhouse
3-3:45 p.m. -- Local Singer/songwriter, Emelise
4-5 p.m. -- Waking the Bear - Jeff & Paige
As this is Colorado, and the weather can cover all four seasons in one day, there will be a rain date if April 7 sees inclement weather.
"Rain Date: In case of inclement weather the Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival will be rescheduled for Sunday, April 14th from 1 - 5 pm. Should the festival be rescheduled we will make an announcement by 10 am on April 7th," says boulderdowntown.org. You can get more information on this fun event on Boulder Downtown's website.
