Bohemians and Families Rejoice!
As the VW diesel emissions scandal slowly dissipates into the brand's varied and seemingly odd past, the people's car (and its affiliates) are again profitable and charging ahead with a new all-electric lineup. Just last month the automaker showcased three electric vehicles at the LA Auto Show, including the I.D. Crozz - a mid-size crossover, a large un-named sedan, and most notably a van that oozes 60's charisma called the I.D. Buzz which we will appropriately deem the Micro-Buzz.
“We believe this is technology for the upcoming generation of cars, and we want to be at the forefront,” said Jürgen Stackmann, head of Volkswagen sales and marketing. It's all part of VW's goal to sell 1 million electric vehicles by 2025, and the automaker says they recognize the need for electric vans.
However, one look at the I.D. Buzz and it's obvious that it's more than an appliance - it's a tip of the hat to the iconic VW Microbus while tastefully sporting its own modern flair. Shall we call it retro-fresh? Regardless, with its flat nose, fluorescent two-tone paint and broad panels the (h)omage to the original attracted smiling onlookers like they were bees to flower--power.
