Best Supporting Actor? GMC!
Cars have personalities. That's part of why we love them, name them, and make movies where they're personified and animated. Some film experts even agree that the vehicle a character drives is an extension of their personality and should be chosen carefully, meanwhile, others argue that the car itself takes on its own role.
That's especially true in the 1970 cult classic Vanishing Point, or even the legendary McQueen flick Bullit, but those films feature flashy, fire-breathing muscle cars and that had me thinking "what about all those 'normal' cars that play a role, like GMCs?" So I went on the hunt and found these 5 GMCs that are absolutely unforgettable (given you were born in the right era).
Lethal Weapon 2
In the pivotal 'bringing down the house' scene, you can see a 1986 GMC Sierra 3500 dually flexing its muscle.
The Fall Guy
The Fall Guy was an ABC action/adventure that aired from 1981 to 1986, and you better believe that a 1980 GMC K20 stole the show with lots of high-flying off pavement action.
Ironhide from Transformers
The trigger-happy weapons specialist from Transformers needed a vehicle to represent his ruggedness and toughness, hence, a GMC Topkick C4500 was chosen.
Bridges of Madison County
A lesser-known romantic drama starring Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep – who later received an Academy Award for Best Actress Nomination – the movie features a 1960 GMC pickup that adequately suits Eastwood.
Hooper
Yet another late 70s gem, this is probably one of the most ridiculous movie scenes ever shot. As one commenter put it, "back when drinking and driving was just frowned upon." Regardless, it's got Burt Reynolds and his GMC in it, so you know it's groovy.
