The DMV is a hotbed for live entertainment and cultural events, especially Bethesda's crown jewel The Strathmore. Their 2018-2019 season has some big names on the roster this spring, and we couldn't be more excited. Here are the must-see events happening at the Strathmore in April!
David Sedaris | Wednesday, April 3 | 8 p.m.

The best-selling humorist, known for bitingly funny stories like "The SantaLand Diaries" is back at the Strathmore with his latest batch of essays. His collection Calypso deals with aging, mortality, and fatty tumors with his trademark wit and dark humor. Ms. Lisa Fischer & Grand Baton with The National Philharmonic | Saturday, April 6 | 8 p.m.

Long a backing vocalist for the Rolling Stones and Sting, Lisa Fischer is a force of nature in her own right. And with her band Grand Baton, she's simply otherworldly. Join Fischer and her band for a night of spell-binding music at the Strathmore! Kristin Chenoweth is many things -- a Broadway star, an actress, a jazz songstress. The multi-faceted vocalist will be performing from her most recent album The Art of Elegance, a collection of classics from the Great American Songbook. Watch her belt out "Smile" by Charlie Chaplin and the Gershwin favorite "They Can't Take That Away From Me," which appeared in the Fred Astaire film Shall We Dance. Tickets cost $78-$158. Lewis Black "The Joke's On Us" Tour | Sunday, April 14 | 7:30 p.m.
The talented violinists Kev Marcus and Wil B. make up Black Violin, whose addictive mix of classical and hip-hop has garnered critical praise and collaborations with artists like Wyclef Jean and Alicia Keys. Their virtuosity will be on full display on their "Impossible Tour." Lewis Black is a master of the rant. The fiery comedian's take on world events never fails to entertain and enlighten, so his "The Joke's On Us" tour is sure to be a treat. Caetano Veloso, Ofertorio | Monday, April 15 | 8 p.m.

As a prominent figure of the Brazilian genre Tropicalismo, Caetano Veloso is a legendary songwriter who's been compared to the likes of Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan. Ofertorio is Veloso's most recent work, which he will be performing with his three sons Tom, Moreno, and Zeca. The acoustic set will include songs like "Sozhino" and "Cucurrucucu Paloma." The Triplets of Belleville Cine-Concert | Thursday, April 18 | 8 p.m.

The Triplets of Belleville was a smash hit upon its release in 2003, even winning a Cesar Award for Best Original Score in 2004. See the bombastic score recreated live with its creator Benoit Charest and his orchestra Le Terrible Orchestre de Belleville. Alan Cumming, Legal Immigrant | Wednesday, April 24 | 8 p.m.

What does it mean to be an immigrant in America? Allow the delightful Alan Cumming to explain with cabaret!
