August 1st is Colorado Day! Heres how you can celebrate Colorado's 140th Birthday like a true Coloradan

  1. Rock Your Gear Nothing says "Colorado" than a big ol' blue shirt with the state flag on it. Regardless of where you are in the country or world you can almost always spot the Coloradan because of what they are wearing. As one of the most represented flags in the country, people from Colorado love showing their state pride by literally wearing it all over their bodies. After all, with such a bold and meaningful design the Colorado state flag is by far the coolest. The yellow representing our many days of sunshine. The blue stripes standing for our vast blue skies. The white middle, signifying the beautiful snowcapped mountains. Last but not least, the bold red C standing for our remarkable red soil and rock. So for today especially, strap on your headbands, pull up your socks, layer up your CO shirts and why not, get those Colorado boxers on cause its COLORADO DAY!Colorado Day
  2. Get Outside With all the beauty and glory surrounding us in Colorado, you have the availability to head west and explore the glory of the Rocky Mountains. Today is a great day to get out and explore, a bunch of state parks are opening their doors and waiving entry fees to allow the public the ability to take in all that Colorado has to offer. Just remember though, you still need a permit to fish and camp. Not to mention, ALWAYS remember to pack in and out, leave no trace and please stay on on the trails. Though if you're a true Coloradan I don't have to tell you that we should always...Colorado Day
  3. Protect Our Home With the influx of transplants, coupled with the huge influx of tourists have caused even worse traffic on the trails. Now more than ever we need to insure we're leaving Colorado more beautiful than we found it. If you do anything this Colorado Day, make sure you're relaying that message to those who are just stopping by our great state. Too many times I've seen visitors hopping off trails, leaving cigarette butts and all together disregarding park rules.Colorado is all about pride and protection over nature and mountains. If you're headed out to explore and enjoy today, be mindful of your neighbors. Also, don't be afraid to call someone out (nicely) for not abiding by trail or park regulations. After all, education is key here, a lot of people don't know how important it is to keep our parks clean and protected. Teach those who aren't following park (or common decency) rules so they know better and can hopefully pass that knowledge along.Colorado Day
  4. Shun your Home-State TONS of people have moved to Colorado in the past two years. With the increase in the millions there are plenty of non-natives who have adopted beautiful Colorado as their new home. There is something extremely special about Colorado that you just don't get in any other state. Colorado emanates this magnetic energy that just makes you a happier person once you're in it. Maybe its the altitude, or maybe its just the fact that Colorado is just a kick-ass place to live. Regardless, today especially, is the perfect day to thank your lucky stars you aren't anywhere else.Colorado Day
  5. Be nice to a stranger One of the best things about being a Coloradan is their upbeat attitude. Probably due to all the sunshine and vitamin D Coloradans get on the daily. But overall, I've literally never been around happier people. Take those positive vibes to heart and put them on someone else. Let someone merge in during traffic tonight or just give someone a friendly smile. Its those little things that can light up someone's day and truly encapsulates the Colorado spirit.
  6. Have a Beer Colorado is home to TONS of amazing breweries. While Coors is obviously the home-base homey. But if you're looking for something with a bit more oomph you can try any one of the many home-base-brews provided by local breweries and brewers Colorado has to offer. Stop by 20 Mile Tap House for happy hour and enjoy a variety of locally crafted brews. Or, if you're not feeling like a night out, check out Haze's Beverage World  which provides customers with a clean, awesome experience with TONS of beer options from micro to marco and everything in between. PLUS its locally owned so #GoColorado!Colorado Day
  7. Check out the Broncos training camp You can't spell Colorado Pride without the Broncos. Well obviously you can, but you know what I'm getting at. Show your support for the Superbowl winning team, and the rookies, by attending training camp sessions all week at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The parking lot opens at 7 am with gates opening at 8 am. Fans can grab autographs and watch their favorite players practice from 9: 30 am - noon.Colorado Day
  8. Enjoy all the glory Colorado has to offer, you know what I mean Legalized marijuana had a fairly large hand in the influx of transplants to the state. While its frustrating to many, considering a lot of people have come to "just smoke pot," take today to not be so sour about it. Revel in the ability to go to a store and pick up some bud and have a relaxing afternoon. You know, without worrying about the smell causing your "not-so-down" neighbors to call the cops on you. All in all, legalized marijuana is a privilege (for now) nation-wide, its an amazing thing for an entire state to legalize something that has so many wonderful benefits and uses. Take Colorado Day to be thankful you have yet another thing many other states can't even get close to... again, for now.
  9. Snap Some Pics Instagram is the social media manager for the state of Colorado. With thousands of CO-related hashtags, not to mention plenty of pages dedicated to the glory that is our great state. Spend some time this Colorado Day to take some pictures of your own. Relive the beauty again and again and spread the love for the state of Colorado. Share, like, and support others who post great pictures and rub our beauty and awesomeness in the faces of those living anywhere else. #ColoradoDay #RockyMountainHigh #ByeHaters
  10. Take in the Sunset Theres a reason the colors blue and orange are so prevalent around our state, and its not just because of the Broncos. Colorado sunsets are unprecedented, no beach horizon pic could even come close to comparing. The wide-open skies over the planes allow for all the lights and colors that come with a sunset to be unobstructed. In the end, leaving the sky to look like a huge water-color painting of pinks, purples, blues, and oranges. Find yourself a clear open spot, maybe strap on some hiking boots and head upwards to get a perfect seat for a beautiful Colorado Sunset.
