Making new friends as a mom is difficult. The new app called Peanut is looking to help those women make new mom friends in a similar fashion as most dating apps.
Peanut is the new app for moms looking to make new mom friends! The app is designed for pregnant moms and moms for children up to age 16. It was created by mom Michelle Kennedy, who was the former deputy CEO of the dating app Badoo and was on the board of Bubmle, which is another dating app. So, yes, it is similar to Tinder but for mom friendships.
The app's overall mission:
At Peanut, we see motherhood as an adventure in the life of a woman. The best chapter in your book, but not the only one. Just because you entered motherhood, you didn't stop being you.
We're on a mission to build a community of women, who happen to be mamas. Because let's face it, the more women in your life, the better it becomes.
Ever share a smile with another mama on the street? It's kind of like that."
Signing up for Peanut is very similar to how one would sign up for a dating app. You connect with your Facebook account, then you enter in how many children you have and their ages. There is an option to select "peanut," which is how you display that you have a baby on the way and how many weeks along you are.
Once that step is complete, you pick three words or phrases that best describe you. There are fun ones like "hot mess," "wine time," and "mom boss," or there are the more serious ones like "single mama," "special needs," and "charitable." You can add or remove these descriptions as you so choose.

Like Tinder, users swipe up to "wave" at another mom and swipe down to say "not now." There's also the option to set up a coffee meet-up or a playdate. Group chat is also an option within the app, where you suggest an activity and poll to the others for a preferred time. Once the poll finishes, you can tap to change the poll into an invite and another tap then exports it into your calendar.
