Pharrell Williams' childhood in Virginia Beach may be made into a musical!
The Hollywood Reported stated on Monday, March 27 that Fox nailed a pitch for a musical titled Atlantis. The musical is inspired by Pharrell Williams' childhood in Virginia Beach. Reportedly, Broadway director Michael Mayer is going to direct the project – which has been described as a Romeo and Juliet type story, but with songs. This wouldn't be the first project Pharrell has done with Fox either. He worked on the Oscar Nominated drama Hidden Figures as a producer, as well as providing much of the music for the film.
Musical featured films are making a big comeback – with the Oscar success of La La Land, it's not surprising other production companies are following suit with musical themes. That being said, with the musical talents of Pharrell Williams and Michael Mayer involved, Atlantis is bound to be a musical extravaganza.
