Gotta catch 'em all!

The Pokémon Company put out a new game this week, but maybe not the kind of game you'd expect. Pokémon Smile is a toothbrushing game for phones designed to encourage kids to brush their teeth better. It uses augmented reality to team up players with adorable Pokémon to "rescue other Pokémon from cavity-causing bacteria."

It's available now for free on iOS and Android.

Gotta Brush 'Em All!

The game has an adorable take on iconic Pokémon characters, which players can "wear" on their head like a hat as they brush their teeth. Only when all of the bacteria has been brushed away can players get the chance to catch the Pokémon. And like any good Pokémon game, there are tons of cute monsters to catch—over 100 'mons and tons of hats to collect.

There's a progression system that gives awards on the way to Brushing Master, as well as customizable supervision settings.

Pokémon Smile isn't Pokémon's first foray into promoting healthier living. Last year, the company announced Pokémon Sleepa smartphone sleep-tracking game with a Pokéball-accelerometer accessory. It's set to release 2020.

Other Poké-News

The current mainline Pokémon games, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, got their first expansion with the Isle of Armor downloadable content. It adds more Pokémon, a new dojo to compete in, and the ability to have your Pokémon follow you around.

And finally—huge news—a game called New Pokémon Snap is heading to the Nintendo Switch. Inspired by the classic Nintendo 64 game from 1999, the new game is touted as an "all-new adventure".

Details are still forthcoming, but for fans of the original game, it's fantastic news.
