Wordsmiths and trivia nerds, rejoice! The hosts of "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy" have renewed their contracts for two more years.
Though the game shows themselves have not yet been officially renewed, popular hosts Pat Sajak, Vanna White, and Alex Trebek have agreed to come back through the 2019-2020 season, which we can only guess is good news for the shows' continuance as well. Both "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy" have been on the air for decades, making them weeknight staples in households around America. "Wheel" is finishing up its 34th season and draws 27 million viewers every week, while "Jeopardy," in its 33rd season, brings in 23 million viewers weekly among the trivia-loving faithful. The announcement was made by Sony TV's Harry Friedman, the executive producer of both shows, as he accepted a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 44th annual Daytime Emmy Creative Arts Awards over the weekend. An official statement later followed.
“Pat, Vanna, and Alex are beloved by generations of TV viewers, and the enduring popularity of ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and ‘Jeopardy’ is a testament to their incredible talents,” the statement said.
We know these shows and their well-loved hosts can't (and won't) go on forever, but we'll certainly enjoy them while they last.
